Prediction and assessment of impulse noise caused by regular ball impacts in pickleball
Pickleball is a relatively new sport that is being actively practiced in many places, especially abroad, for example in the USA. which is also increasingly being offered in Europe. The noise assessment in outdoor situations follows in most countries the procedures described in the ISO
1996 series of standards (Environmental Noise). For a given immission location, the A-weighted continous sound level value caused by a type of noise source is evaluated for a specific evaluation time, and if necessary, supplements are applied to into account particular disturbance effects,
such as the impulsive noise, relevant for racket sports such as tennis, padel or pickleball. This contribution presents a method for the calculation of the impact of pickleball activities based on the calculation of the LAFT,5s (Maximum A-weighted sound pressure level during a 5 seconds period)
and its implementation in commercial prediction software.

The Noise-Con conference proceedings are sponsored by INCE/USA and the Inter-Noise proceedings by I-INCE. NOVEM (Noise and Vibration Emerging Methods) conference proceedings are included. All NoiseCon Proceedings one year or older are free to download. InterNoise proceedings from outside the USA older than 10 years are free to download. Others are free to INCE/USA members and member societies of I-INCE.
