Noisehacks for the Modern Age - Creative Problem Solving in an Established Practice
This research exhibits case-based solutions to common field and laboratory shortcomings and surprises. The millennial generation may be known for their laziness, but there is relative potential for innovation bred from such characteristics that can benefit us all. With several hundred
cumulative days in the field and regular equipment tinkering, developing shortcuts and tricks to help combat environmental forces becomes an art in and of itself. This paper will review the various solutions and tools developed over the early career of a junior-level acoustician at the helm
of a sound level meter, and offers a fresh approach to dealing with issues we tend to passively cope with. This paper exhibits tools discovered and/or developed for handling foresight and planning, measurement efficiency, rigorous environmental scenarios, and basic office and laboratory organization.
From increasing sound level meter power potential, to organizing a pile of tripods, the results of this research can benefit even the most senior acoustician.
