Some Lessons Learned About Wind Turbine Noise Compliance Issues
Wind turbine noise compliance evaluation has become a priority throughout New England. This is true in all states throughout the region, where regulations vary from state to state. During his time at MA DEP, Dr. Quin had the opportunity to evaluate both regulations and wind turbine
compliance evaluation throughout the state of MA, and learned a number of lessons in this area. In particular, Dr. Quin will be discussing current noise regulations and how they affect wind turbines, potential areas for regulation change, the manner in which compliance is measured at the turbines,
and how regulations are enforced. He also will discuss the potential for greater collaboration between developers and the state, to ensure that future projects are known to be more likely to comply with potential current and new noise regulations.
