Analysis of 500 noise ordinances
The noise ordinances for the 500 largest communities in the United States were collected and analyzed to determine the various techniques, metrics and criteria communities use to regulate noise (such as sound pressure level, nuisance, disturbing the peace, plainly audible, minimum distance,
time of day, etc). A survey of a random sample of those communities was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the noise regulation techniques, metrics and criteria.
