Noise abatement and improvement: the systematic approach
Noise is a local, regional and global problem . It is a difficult problem, but its severity can be greatly reduced at low cost by changes which also support other goals, such as reduced COz emissions, increased traffic safety, etc. We must act continuously and firmly and realize that
it will take time before we have substantially improved the situation. The struggle against noise demands well informed and competent efforts from many institutions-government, industry , etc.-and the public must be involved.
