Free Content Noise control engineering for the airport railway in Hong Kong - Setting the standards

The Lantau and Airport Railway (LAR) is a 34-kilometer electrical railway that connects Hong Kong Island to the Islands of Lantau and Chek Lap Kok. The railway cost US$4.1 billion and was designed, constructed, and commissioned in 7 years. The LAR consists of two services, a 23- minute dedicated Airport Express Line (AEL) and a mass transit service to the new Town at Tung Chung (TCL). The AEL is the first railway that is specially designed to provide access to an airport. In-town Check In services allow passengers to obtain boarding card s at Hong Kong and Kowloon Stations as well as checking their luggage. Passengers leaving the airport can roll their luggage directly from customs clearance to the railway without changing levels. The same passengers can then take their luggage from the train, disembark, and take a taxi or bus again without changing levels.
