Reduction of noise emission of construction machines due to the "Blue Angle" award

There is a long tradition concerning noise abatement on construction sites in Germany. The first legislation was established by the Federal Construction Noise Law in 1965. This law was incorporated in the Federal Environmental Protection Law in 1974. There are two general provisions in the law: 1. Environmental noise exposure in the neighborhood of construction sites should not lead to health effects or nuisance in the exposed population. 2. The state-of-the-art concerning noise abatement must be met by construction machinery. Several Administrative Regulations (Allgemeine Verwaltungsvorschriften) came into force during the years 1970-1976 covering regulations concerning noise exposure, and noise emission by concrete mixers, loaders, compressors, concrete pumps, dozers, excavators, tower cranes, and hammers.
