A parametric study of parallel blade-vortex-interaction noise
A parametric study of parallel Blade-Vortex-Interaction (BVI) has been carried out using numerical simulations. A high-resolution CFD scheme and a fine grid system are employed to capture the vortex. Along with the convection of vortex, a low dissipation of the initial vortex is observed.
By locating the initial vortex far upstream of the airfoil, a parallel BVI is simulated while the vortex is convected by the flow passing through the vicinity of the blade. The results are compared with the existing experimental data with good agreement. The blade tip-to-vortex distance, airfoil
incidence, and vortex rotation direction are chosen as the parameters for this parametric study. The BVI strength shows a dependency on these parameters.
