Active snore noise control systems
This paper presents an application of active noise control (ANC) algorithms for reducing snoring noise. The snore ANC system installed on a traditional headboard has potential benefits of retrofitting, convenience, and being unobtrusive. ANC algorithms in both single-channel and multiple-channel structures have been developed and tested to evaluate their performance for canceling snore. Adaptive infinite impulse response (IIR) filters and adaptive finite impulse response (FIR) filters with feedback neutralization were examined on their effectiveness of reducing acoustic feedback. Real-time experiments were conducted using a digital signal processor development system and recorded snore samples. An average reduction of 15 to 20 dB at both ears of snorer’s bed partner can be achieved using multiple-channel ANC systems.
