Relation between Acoustic Absorption Performance and Flow Field around Perforated Plate with Cross Flow
The present paper focuses on the relationship between the acoustic absorption performance and the flow field around a perforated plate with cross-flow. The normal incidence absorption coefficient was calculated from the measured transfer function using transfer function methods. As
the flow velocity passing through the orifices increased, the peak level of the acoustic absorption coefficient increased in some cases. We observed the flow field around a perforated plate by flow visualization using a laser. The vortices were clearly formed downstream of the orifices due
to the incident sound of pure tone. We discussed the relationship between the vortex and the acoustic absorption performance of perforated plate with a cross flow.
