Free Content Marine mammal protection from impulsive noise

In this presentation we will look at the metrics used by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) for determining noise exposure levels for marine mammals and fish from the effects of underwater impulsive noise. A common source of impulsive underwater noise is pile driving associated with activities such as bridge or pier construction or the anchoring of offshore structures. A portable measurement system that allows in field measurement verification and also provides results quickly will also be presented.
