Experiment was carried out to investigate wall-mounted airfoil noise reduction with finlet fence structure. The noise characteristics of wall-mounted finite airfoil were measured with a planar microphone array as well as far field microphones in an anechoic wind tunnel. A NACA0012 airfoil with chord of 200 mm and span of 400 mm was used. The noise characteristics for the NACA0012 airfoil both with and without finlet fence structure on airfoil trailing edge were experimentally investigated. The incoming flow velocity ranges from 10 m/s to 80 m/s and the attack angle ranges from 0°to 15°. The corresponding Reynolds number based on the incoming velocity and airfoil chord ranges from 1.3×105 to 1.1×106. Experimental results show that the airfoil trailing edge and airfoil tip are the main noise sources for the wall-mounted airfoil. The finlet fence structure can effectively reduce the wall-mounted airfoil noise at various flow speeds, especially at large attack angle. The detailed experimental results are also analysed. 1 tongfan@
