The Department of Industrial Engineering has gained over the years extensive experience in the field of acoustics and has developed specific skills in the study and implementation of active noise control systems. The department studies were motivated by the need to develop methods for active control of stationary noise, such as that generated by transformers and reactors in Electric Stations. The experience in this field was acquired thanks also to some research projects carried out in the last decade. In this paper, a new active noise control system developed for the cancellation of noise produced by the reactors of Electric Stations is described. Some results obtained according to experimental results are reported and discussed.
