In this paper, we evaluate different development platforms for implementing a multi-channel active noise control system. The main motivation in doing so is to find out how different processing platforms can be used to quickly prototype ANC solutions; their ease of programming; provide a reference design to build an embedded system that can be deployed in the actual deployment of the ANC system. In particular, we choose three development platforms of Texas Instruments TMS320C6713, Analog Devices ADAU1442, and National Instruments PXIe-8135. We further examine their real-time performances, noise reductions achieved of these development platforms. These platforms can further be used in a hardware-in-the-loop testing method, where it provides an easy and fast way to test the functionality and performance of the ANC system without having physical access to the actual environment all the time. Measurement data from the actual environment can be measured and digitally simulated to test out the ANC hardware prototype. Therefore, a powerful plant simulation platform running in sync with the prototyping platforms can help to derisk the cost of building extensive testbed for the ANC project.
