Analysis of the Band gap using Serpentine spring
Band gap, frequency ranges in which no free wave propagation is one of the most important characteristics of the acoustic metamaterial. The band gaps are realized due to the periodic arrangement of the resonators. Therefore, spring constant of the resonator are important factor in determining
the band gap characteristics. This paper investigates the band gap using serpentine springs. The formula of the band gap was derived in a simple system in which the serpentine spring resonators were periodically arranged to the host plate, and analytical calculations was compared with the
simulation values. Hence the effects of the serpentine spring parameters on band gap are studied. In conclusion, this paper shows the possibility of band gap implementation using serpentine spring.
