Relationship between non-acoustical factors and satisfaction with speech privacy in open-plan office

This study examined relationship between non-acoustical factors and satisfaction with speech privacy in open-plan office through a survey. The questionnaire consisted of satisfaction with environment including speech privacy, and noise sensitivity, attitude and coping strategies to speech noise as non-acoustical factors. The result shows that speech privacy was ranked to the most dissatisfied one among indoor environment factors. It was also found that the high noise sensitivity group reported lower satisfaction with speech privacy than low noise sensitivity group. Difference in stasfaction with speech privacy between two groups in attitude toward speech noise was significantly. However, the difference in stasfaction with speech privacy between two groups in coping to speech noise was not siginificant.
