The 4th stage of the Incheon International Airport construction has been being undertaken since 2018 extending 2nd passenger terminal building of which current 2nd passenger terminal was opened in 2019. The present work aims to design indoor spaces in the new terminal building satisfying with the acoustic criteria. Acoustic design works of six target areas include check-in counter, departure concourse, wing-tip area, arrival area, baggage claim area, and greeting area. Acoustic simulations were carried out in order to execute both architectural and electroacoustic designs. As the results, interior finishing materials were determined and the positions of speakers were selected with their capacity. Three acoustic standards were applied to design the airport spaces for people to hear sound transmission in convenient. Those are reverberation time below 2.5sec, D50 above 0.40, speech intelligibility index (STI) above 0.50. In the most spaces, perforated aluminum panels were installed on ceiling with porous sound absorbers and air-cavity. Also, acoustic louver was used to control the excessive reverberations in larger volume spaces. As a result, it was revealed that most of all the indoor target spaces meet the acoustic criteria of the purpose.
