The present study aims to propose an optimum reverberation time curve by the space volume of Korean traditional music halls. Deriving the curve, field measurements, acoustic simulation, and psychoacoustics experiments were conducted by targeting six Korean traditional music halls founded in Korea. The reverberation times (RT500Hz) of the six Korean traditional music halls were 0.85~1.27 seconds. In terms of psychoacoustics experiments, it is important to select sound sources and vocabulary matched with Korean traditional music. The eight sound sources and vocabulary terms were selected through a questionnaire survey. The JND (just-noticeable difference) tests were conducted using the converted sound source and the result was 0.2 seconds. The sound source used in psychological experiments is the auralization source through acoustic simulation. A preference survey was provided to select the sound source range of the experiment. The preference survey results in the optimum range of reverberation time which is from 0.45 to 1.60 seconds. The results of the psychoacoustics experiment are as follows. The curve formula of the optimum reverberation time is 'y=0.2197Ln(x)-1.0617,' and the explanatory power (R2) is 97%.
