In this research, the acoustic performance of various vacuum insulating lazings is investigated and presented. The main goal of the investigation is the development of a glazing-system which is as slim as possible but with sound insulation comparable to standard glazings. All measured glazings had the standard size of (1230 × 1480) mm² and were installed in the window test stand of the Akustik Center Austria according to EN ISO 10140-2. In the first step of the research, various vacuum insulating glazings are considered as individual systems. The set-up of the VIG systems is varied. The results are compared with similar single glasses and laminated glass panes. In the second step, selected vacuum insulating glazing systems are upgraded to double pane insulating glass and measured again. These modified systems are compared with mass and dimension equivalent standard insulating glazing systems, which only consist of single and composite panes and are used in practice.
