Considerations on the determination of measurements uncertainties values in laboratory airborne sound insulations measurements
Due to the publication of the latest edition of ISO / IEC 17025 (2017 edition), the presentation of measurement uncertainty values associated with sound insulation tests, becomes an important requirement. Taking into account the complexity of the mathematical model associated with the
measurement of sound insulation, and the traditional method for assessing measurement uncertainty in building acoustics, the estimation of measurement uncertainty from the standard deviation associated with inter-laboratory tests is considered a relevant option. This paper intends to present
some considerations about the suitability of using the uncertainty value associated with the sound insulation index and its implications in terms of laboratories accreditation, customer satisfaction and regulations compliance.
