Noise pollution at construction sites: occupational noise generated by portable power tools
As part of efforts to improve working conditions in construction, this study reports the noise pollution generated by portable power tools commonly used on construction sites. The methodology evaluated the operator's exposure to noise generated during operations with tools generally
used in construction sites and makes a comparison with the occupational tolerance limits. It appears that the noise levels generated in 80% of the power tools analyzed in this study are above the tolerance limit of 85dB (A), for an 8-hour working day. The recent scenario of noise generated
in the industry and its associated consequences is illustrated.
