Equivalent linear modeling of a human head including the characteristics of simulator to evaluate a bone-conduction device
The evaluation of a bone-conduction device could be conducted with human head directly to identify the performance of sound transmission with the responsible device but the variation in each person may be hard to decide the normalized target value. The specialized evaluation equipment,
such as the device simulator 4930 model (Brüel & Kjær), may provide the objective response data from the bone-conduction device but it is difficult to compensate the characteristics of human head with an equivalent human model with a simplified concentrated mass block. In this
paper, the equivalent human head structure was proposed using the response data at the contact position of a bone-conduction device under the sine-sweep excitation. The equivalent human head structure was verified in the device simulator (4930 model, Brüel & Kjær) under the
same excitation profile by comparison the response data at the contact location of the bone-conduction device.
