The acoustic dimension of squares: the potentiality of soundgardens

Soundgarden is a special type of garden that play a role in landscaping design. The focus here is about the potentiality of soundgardens beyond the conventional people square experience. Soungarden consists in a singular ambience on schaferian acoustic design program. To understand the extension of its impact on square experience, a brief review about these constitutive initiatives of metabuilding acoustic design was necessary. From these preliminary reflexions in connection with the urban conception of garden cities, this paper deal with the encouragement to create soundgardens in squares, getting rich the people experience on these with a clear auditory commitment. In this direction, three squares in Belo Horizonte city were chosen to be analysed: Rui Barbosa Square, Floriano Peixoto Square and Professor Godoy Betônico Square. Starting from descriptions of each square, some considerations were done to be possible the creation a soudgarden experience in each.
