As the vehicle's power system has changed from internal combustion engine to a motor, the noise of tyre heard from inside of a car becomes important issues. Therefore, it becomes very useful to predict the level of tyre noise at early design stage. Pattern noise is one of tyre noise. Patter noise is caused by tyre tread pattern and is related to the tread profile spectrum and the air volume velocity spectrum. Therefore, we used tyre tread pattern image and tyre contact patch to calculate its spectrum. The leading edge or tyre contact patch shape moves along the circumference of the tyre in tyre tread pattern image to calculate spectrum. And this spectrum is used as input data to the neural network to predict pattern noise. In a well-trained network, the predicted results will be of great help to attenuate the tyre noise.
