An Analysis of Road Impact Booming on a FR Vehicle using Transfer Path Analysis and Experimental Test Models
When a vehicle passes rough road and bump at low speed, impact booming below 100Hz usually happens. Especially a FR(Front engine-Rear drive) large sedan shows large impact booming noise due to large body and chassis parts(cross- member, shock-absorber). The study tried to figure out
the contribution of input force at chassis points and body dynamic characteristics by TPA(transfer path analysis) for low frequency booming noise. Through the TPA model, the sensitivity of impact booming by chassis force change was done and body characteristics which affects ATF(Acoustic Transfer
Function) were investigated. The ASQ(Airborne Sound Quantification) model which consists of body frames and panels was made and we predicted impact booming by change of body using the model in order to improve booming problem. Finally, the contribution of each chassis and body part was defined
through the sensitivity of each part and comparisons between ours and competitor car.

The Noise-Con conference proceedings are sponsored by INCE/USA and the Inter-Noise proceedings by I-INCE. NOVEM (Noise and Vibration Emerging Methods) conference proceedings are included. All NoiseCon Proceedings one year or older are free to download. InterNoise proceedings from outside the USA older than 10 years are free to download. Others are free to INCE/USA members and member societies of I-INCE.
