A Study on the Total Backlash Influence Factors of the Automatic Transmissions for the Vehicle Tip-In Shock
In general, it is difficult to find out the most influential factors among the various causes of tip-in shock in a vehicle due to the complicated internal structure and the different restraint elements at each stage. In this paper, a measurement method and equipment for measuring the
total backlash of automatic transmission are developed and introduced. And the total backlash of the automatic transmission and the shock level at the wheel hub under the tip-in condition of the vehicle with the large total backlash and mass production level are measured. As a result, the
backlash of the automatic transmissions increased by 66%, the shock level increased by about 80%. And the total backlash specifications have been set. However, it is very difficult to identify which components have the most influence on the total backlash of the automatic transmission. Therefore,
In order to define the design backlash values and maintenance its specifications of planetary gear sets and differential side pinion gears, A new equipment to measure the backlash level of the planetary gear sets and differential side pinion gear sets are developed.
