Recently, structure modification has become popular in controlling vibration. Receptance method is an inverse method for structure modification. This method has been deeply researched in theory but rarely applied in practical, especially assignment of anti-resonance. Assignment of resonance or anti-resonance based on receptance method is achieved by modifying mass or stiffness terms of original structure. When applying the method, the mode information of the original structure is not required, only a few FRFs (Frequency Response Functions) of concern location are known. This provide a new way to control vibration of some large structure, such as ship. Fluid-conveying pipe is a common structure on ship and underwater vehicle. Considering the complexity of structure, vibration control of fluid-conveying pipe has been a difficult problem to solve urgently. In this paper, a typical fluid-conveying pipe is manufactured and tested to suppress vibration of pipe support and validate the receptance method. Among them, structural modification of the pipe is implemented by modifying the stiffness in form of adding a connect spring. The test results show that the method used in this paper is able to control vibration of pipe support.
