Engineered Thermoplastic Materials as a Damping Product in Audio Enclosures
This paper discusses the damping performance evaluation of different thermoplastic materials, using mechanical impedance method, to obtain data over a broad frequency range. Once products were identified to have acceptable performances, they were used to make prototype ear buds. These
were evaluated for reducing resonances and harmonic distortion effects of the ear buds and compared against the current production material.
