Quality of noise emission data: An experimental verification for outdoor equipment
We have experimentally examined noise emissions of different kinds of outdoor equipment - leaf blowers, lawn mowers, motor hoes and chainsaws. The potential of a Buy-Quiet strategy regarding the purchase of different kinds of outdoor equipment is discussed. Besides the measurement results
we describe the issues connected with carrying out the measurements according to the applicable, harmonized European standards. Differences and inconsistencies of the standards applicable to the studied outdoor equipment are pointed out. We discuss challenges of the conflicting requirements
of the Machinery and the Outdoor Noise Directive.
