Diagnosis of Tire Vibration Noise Based on a Smart Tire System
It is widely recognized that the vibration dominates the tire noise which is caused by the rolling contact. However, there is little experimental method to elaborate the mechanism of tire vibration noise. In this essay, innovative simulation and experimental methods are presented. According
to the previous work, a Mixed Lagrange Euler Method is proposed to calculate the tire vibration field with different types of tread block, in which the source of noise is the acceleration field of the tire surface. Because of the difficulty of testing the acceleration of tire surface directly,
a new method is proposed which utilize the Smart Tire System: a 3-axial accelerometers is attached on the inner linear to measure the acceleration signal. After spectrum analysis of the signal, it can be seen the different resonance peaks which correspond to the types of tread block and the
vibration noise. And the transfer functions of acceleration from tire surface to inner linear are also compared to differ the tread block. This presentation will show that the Smart Tire System can provide a tool to study the noise generation mechanism and the impact of different types of
tire tread block on tire vibration noise.
