
Charateristics of Sound Insulation of MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Rooms in Hospital
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is one of the medical techniques for diagnosing a resonance signal by computer image processing by generating a magnetic field by putting a person into a magnetic resonance apparatus. Unlike X-ray or computed tomography (CT), this device is non-invasive
and is widely used because it does not use radiation. Depending on the manufacturer and the equipment, the sound pressure levels of the MRI equipment have 120 to 130 dB in the case of 3.0 T MRI equipment. Operators who are operating MRI equipment in hospitals are at high risk for noise-induced
hearing loss if they are continuously exposed to noise at such as highly noise workplaces. In order to prevent noise-induced hearing loss for the MRI operators, it is necessary to present the guidelines of walls, doors, and windows with the sound insulation performance in the design of MRI
rooms. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of sound insulation of 1.5T MRI and 3.0T MRI equipment in B hospital and to measure the sound insulation performance between room and operation room with MRI equipment in Seoul, Korea. Through, we intend to utilize the
MRI examination as a basic data in the hospital design guideline.
