Survey on Adverse Impacts of Construction Noises through Construction Stages
In order to assess the annoyance caused by noises from the construction sites, a survey have been conducted and evaluated the construction site noise from machines in operation. The survey was a self-reported questionnaire completed by 450 respondents, all of whom are engineers on construction
site. Most of the respondents endorsed annoyance as the most adverse effect and indicated that the breaker is the most annoying construction machine. The construction stage that caused the most annoyance is demolition. The survey results indicated high levels of annoyance and work performance
in the demolition stage, and high levels of work safety and speech interference in foundation and concrete construction stages. During construction project in the urban area, the construction manager should attempt to reduce the construction noise to prevent noise claim and complaints from
neighbors. In particular, construction managers in construction site should focus more on noise control in the foundation and demolition construction stages.
