
Prediction of Radiated Noise Generated by Compact Acoustic Sources and Vibrating Systems
Ray tracing and image-source methods, often used in room acoustics and in computing noise propagation. Often, the application of this technique is limited to the modeling of closed volume excited by simple acoustic source such as monopole. This paper presents a methodology to predict
the sound radiated by complex compact source and vibrating structure. Direct consequence of this technique is the evaluation of the sound transmission through elastic structure between two acoustic fluids. Moreover, the effect of noise control treatment and energy diffusion by rough or complex
shaped reflecting obstacles is accounted for in predicting the energy distribution. The accuracy of this technique as well as the computational time is evaluated versus both Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) and standard Boundary Element Method (BEM).
