An experimental investigation of active vibration control for pipeline system

Pipeline system is one of the main vibration transfer path in large-scale ship, meanwhile, it is also the main vibration source of the fluid-induced vibration. The high-frequency vibration transferred or induced by the pipeline system can be effectively attenuated by passive isolator, the low-frequency vibration, however, can not be isolated due to the existing of resonance region in isolation system. This paper introduces a new type of active vibration isolation equipment for pipeline system, it contains a hybrid isolator which take advantage of the superiorities of the active vibration control technique in low-frequency and that of the passive isolation in high-frequency. The dynamic behavior of inertial actuator is investigated and the active vibration control simulation that based on real data is carried out. A real size pipeline system which equiped with water pump is build to verify the isolation efficiency of the new type of vibration isolation equipment. The active vibration control experiments are then carried out at different valve position. Simulation and experiment results show some advantages of this new type of hybrid isolation equipment.
