At present, there are a large number of residential buildings which built in the last century 80, 90s lies along the urban expressway in Tianjin China. And there are a considerable size of such buildings almost next to the road. The Previous survey found that the road noise, especially the low-frequency vibration and noise caused by heavy-duty trucks, has caused serious interference to the residents along the line. This research is aimed to objectively reflect the existing circumstances, and to seek the solutions. This research measured the indoor noise and vibration status of the typical case of such residential buildings, which testing indicators include the three axial vibration acceleration, vibration velocity and vibration displacement of the indoor walls, floor, seat surface, desktop, etc, and the coinstantaneous A-weighting equivalent sound pressure level and the noise spectrum at the range of 6.3Hz to 20kHz. At the same time, this paper conducted a questionnaire survey on the subjective annoyance of the residents in different living conditions, and compared the results with the current domestic and international health standards. The results show that the noise and vibration level indoor of the buildings along the line makes the residents feel more uncomfortable, some of the test data has exceeded the relevant standard limits. Thus it shows that road noise vibration problem is more serious in the residential buildings lying along the urban expressway. In the last part of the research, the transmission path of the noise and vibration caused by expressway is discussed.
