MTR SIL commissioning tests for fixed plant noise
The South Island Line (SIL) is a medium capacity railway with ~5km in tunnels and ~2km at viaduct including Aberdeen Channel Bridge. It comprises 5 stations (South Horizons, Lei Tung, Wong Chuk Hang, Ocean Park, Admiralty) and a depot. Appropriate noise control measures have been designed
and implemented for both railway operation noise and fixed plant noise. This paper reveals the challenges of carrying out fixed plant noise commissioning for 5 stations and a railway depot in an urban area with high background noise to demonstrate full compliance with a set of stringent statutory
limits.
