Study on the Reduction Design of Athletic Impact Vibration and Noise in Multi-Layered Sports Facilities

This study aimed to investigate the vibration and noise cases of existing multi-layered sports facilities. The study analyzed the economic loss in the design and construction process due to excessive impulse compensation in addition to the structural safety of multi layered sports facilities, by measuring actual movement impulse. Moreover, it intended to provide actual impulse data for each sport, which can be implemented in the structural noise design. Additionally, a simulation was conducted for the optimum design based on experimental results, including the physical properties of an anti-vibration material and on-site evaluation. Movement impulse measurement varied by various conditions including a type of sports, motions, and body weight. Most of the motions in sports, excluding walking, cause impact vibration, which create structural noise. Movement impulse experiments showed that the main frequency of running (fast walking) was within 20 ?. It was estimated that running of multiple people would influence on vibration rather than noise. Experiments and measurements were conducted on motions that could occur in a sports facility. These motions included running, stomping, dribbling, shooting, and a shoulder throwing. Results showed that motions having the short duration of an impact (e.g., stomping and shooting) cause a large impulse. These motions include vibration components around the whole 100 Hz range. Results indicated that the structural design should consider noise as well as vibration.
