Investigation of Music Noise Propagation in a Mixed Use Development

BESTEC Pty Ltd were engaged to conduct an acoustic survey in order to identify the causes for complaints from the users of a 4.5 hotel from entertainment noise emissions from the night club located on the ground floor of the building. An acoustic survey involving measurement of the noise and vibration emissions resulting from a typical live music performance in the club was conducted in order to identify the major sound propagation paths. The paper discusses the acoustic survey methodology and results and the acoustic design approach for noise control.
