Turbine Acoustic Enclosures
Many industries widely use gas turbines such as gas compression, power generation, and liquid pumping industries. Gas turbines produce high sound pressure levels near the package. Many methods can be used to reduce the sound levels. One method is to place an enclosure over the turbine.
It is absolutely necessary to know the source of sound from the turbine package to make sure the appropriate treatments are applied. This paper presents the sound pressure level measurements made on enclosed industrial gas turbines. The paper also compares the transmission loss effects of
a leaky enclosure panel versus a sealed enclosure panel. Leaks can have a large influence on the usefulness of the panel.
