Career Lessons Learned from Laymon Miller and Others
Noise control engineering is an honorable and collegial profession. We aim to serve society by helping our clients anticipate and address noise issues. Although many of us are competitors, we are friendly competitors who willingly exchange information to improve the quality of life
and health of individuals and to support our profession. Laymon N. Miller, who received the INCE Outstanding Educator Award in 2008, developed and shared information for the benefit of clients and fellow professionals. As a junior colleague of Laymon's and as a recent recipient of the INCE/NCAC
Laymon N. Miller Award for Excellence in Acoustical Consulting, I wish to present in this paper lessons learned from him, plus lessons learned from others over the course of my career.
