
From engine integration to cabin noise: drivers to accurate interior noise evaluations
In line with Airbus product strategy, significant efforts are being invested in the development of aircraft design means covering short term incremental improvement as well as longer term disruptive concepts as a way to cover the air-transportation market needs in the coming decades.Among
the various disciplines involved in present and future aircraft design processes, cabin acoustics stands at the cross-road between aerodynamics, aeroacoustics , structures and vibration while being fully dependent on engine, aircraft and cabin designs.This multidisciplinary character makes
it necessary to clearly define the essential parameters and physical phenomena to be accounted for in order to achieve appropriate cabin noise predictions with well-dimensioned modeling efforts for short to long term-oriented activities.This paper focuses on the essential features of the coupling
between engine aerodynamic noise and aircraft fuselage in the frame of engine cabin noise prediction. In particular, the sensitivities of cabin noise to aeroacoustic parameters at engine and flow levels are presented together with the numerical and experimental means under development at Airbus
to further characterize the aircraft structural response to an aeroacoustic excitation.
