Modeling of Non-linear damper for suppression of micro vibration on a car body
A micro vibration suppression damper (or known as performance damper from YAMAHA motors) is able to generate damping force from very small velocity due to pressure control bulb, and it realizes good performance on handling, noise and vibration, harshness in wide frequency range. However,
dynamic model of the performance damper is not fully discussed yet, and it prevents sufficient use of the products. Aim of this research is to construct dynamic model of the performance damper and clarify the suppression mechanism of micro vibration of a car body. The result may help sufficient
design of vehicle with better stability and comfort. In this report, mechanism of micro vibration suppression damper is explained with pressure control bulb mechanism and a linearized model is formulated. Then, validity of proposed model is discussed through comparison between theoretical
model and an experiment.
