Shape Optimization in Aircraft Sidewall Panels for Low-Frequency Noise Reduction using Hybrid Method Calculations in Wavenumber Space
This work treats the implementation of a transmission loss (TL) optimization approach for aircraft sidewall panels. For this purpose, a tool was programmed by AIRBUS GROUP INNOVATIONS in Ottobrunn, which generates a fully parametric finite element model of the aircraft sidewall panel
and which allows to control the funnel depth and other geometry parameters. These parameters were used to optimize the transmission loss at frequencies <400 Hz. For a more efficient computation time, it was investigated, how a trade-off between accuracy and efficiency can be achieved in
the wavenumber based approach for optimization. This was compared with results using hybrid transmission loss in VAONE. Then, various results were compared which indicate that the shape can be used to control low-frequency TL of sidewall panels. These results were then verified by comparing
the results with the TL increase by the mass effect. Finally, it can be said that the shape of trim panels has an impact on low-frequency TL.
