Free Content An Assessment of Noise Control Measures for a New Bottling Company Sales Center Meeting Rooms

An acoustic treatment evaluation for a new bottling company sales center was performed during the final design phase of the building. This facility would include two meeting rooms, designated Meeting Room 1 (MR 1) and Meeting Room 2 ( MR2). The MR1 would have seating for up to 100 people and MR2 would have seating for up to 60 people. Each room will have a hard floor surface and the rooms would be enclosed by drywall partitions. As part of the assessment, cost-effective recommendations were developed for the following areas: 1) develop acoustic treatment recommendations to make the meeting rooms perform well acoustically, and 2) provide general advice on improving the acoustic separation between rooms, such as the conference rooms, management offices, break room and surrounding open office areas. We used reverberation time (RT60) and the ANSI/ASA S12.2-2008 (Revision of ANSI S12.2-1995) Criteria for Evaluating Room Noise to assess the necessary acoustic treatments for each room. Interior acoustic modeling was performed to calculate sound levels within the meeting rooms and reverberation times, and make recommendations for the sound system design in the meeting rooms. This paper will discuss the assessment methodology, noise impact criteria and meeting room noise control measures.
