Free Content Efficient Testing by Combining Simulated Pass-By Measurements and OTPA

Download Article:
Simulated pass-by is an approved method to increase testing productivity by being independently of weather conditions and by lowering organizational effort. Instead of using just 2 microphones at the AA line, up to 72 microphones are aligned in a line array along the virtual track. The desired signal is synthesized by an interpolation of the individual microphones on each side, which can subsequently be applied for auralization. Measurement results are comparable to real track measurements. The PAK simulated pass-by application enhances the measurement process further through its dedicated workflow and assignment system according to the well-established PAK pass-by. Additional transducers for an in-depth analysis can be easily integrated. The Operational Transfer Path Analysis helps engineers to execute quickly troubleshooting and developments in the NVH domain. In contrast to the traditional, time-consuming Windowing Method, measurements can be performed in any operational mode. Potential noise sources are easily isolated. A ranking of their individual contributions to the observed phenomena is provided. In a subsequent step it is now possible to modify the response signals, in order to simulate possible alterations of the entire TPA network and the excitation positions. Engineers gain a more comprehensive understanding to make necessary design decisions.
