Free Content Characterization of materials and flaw detection using force analysis technique

This work aims at analyzing structures by mean of an inverse vibratory method consisting in an evolution of the Force Analysis Technique. The latter developed by Pézerat et al. firstly allowed localization and quantification of vibratory sources from measurement of the displacement field. In 2012 Ablitzer et al. improved the procedure for characterization of Young's Modulus and structural damping out of a controlled source area. Our development drawn on beams implies use of Timoshenko theory, letting us to infer the complex shear modulus as well, and probably more sensitive for future applications on composite materials. The goal is to gather these previous methods in order to both analyze material parameters and detect flaws on composite structures through cartography or frequency studies of stiffness, damping and shearing effect. Some feasibility analyses on simple cases have been tested, showing benefits of this first study, as well as limitations that will be treated in future works.
