This challenge is partially related to determining the expected performance of various noise control products that are commercially available. We are beginning to see better data for expected sound pressure levels due to heavy weight drops but the data is not always gathered consistently between brands and products. Additionally, how the product performs may vary between structures. We believe that inclusion of a term such as SPL for heavy weight drops could be useful, similar to how products are tested for IIC. This value would indicate the expected reduction in fast response A-weighted maximum sound pressure levels with installation of a specific product, when compared to a baseline condition without the product.", }
