This study examines the stress and burnout levels linked to medical device noise among Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses in a tertiary hospital. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were gathered through structured questionnaires incorporating the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). Results showed that 39.2% of nurses reported low stress, 35.3% moderate stress, and 25.5% high stress due to noise exposure. Burnout assessments revealed moderate emotional exhaustion (10%) and depersonalization (4%), though all (100%) participants maintained a sense of accomplishment. Regression analysis found no significant relationship between years of work experience and perceived stress (r = 0.063, p = 0.661). Qualitative data highlighted concentration difficulties, communication challenges, and emotional strain, with some nurses reporting sleep disturbances and alarm-related auditory hallucinations. While many adapted to the noise, concerns about its impact on safety persisted. These findings highlight the need for hospital-wide strategies to minimize noise-induced stress and enhance the work environment for healthcare providers.
