The use of thrust reversers, while not necessarily a prerequisite for landing maneuvers, is sometimes a significant means of ensuring more safety for the pilot. For this reason, the magnitude of the thrust reversers, and the segment of the runway in which the reversers are used, vary widely. We have established a method to determination of the utilization and the strength of reverse thrust from noise measurements taken at several stations along the runway side. This report also describes an analysis of the results of the operational conditions of thrust reversers at a multitude of Japanese airports that were examined using the methodology.", }
