Advancements in syntactic foam liner technology have made the use of syntactic foam liners in hydraulic suppressors more suitable for use in typical industrial hydraulic environments. Syntactic foams are composite foam with microspheres bound in a host matrix. Alterations in the chemical composition of the host matrix have led to increased acoustic performance in terms of transmission loss, without negatively impacting the stability of the syntactic foam liner to the hydraulic environment. Additionally, changes in the geometry of the foam liners have led to an increased ability for acoustic diffusers to be used in hydraulic suppressors, which may further increase the acoustic performance.", }
